Sounding board and motivation

Most law firm associates will not vent to their supervisor or co-workers. Without someone listening to their concerns, their frustration and isolation grows. Ultimately, they are not profitable for the firm or they leave. I act as an objective and confidential sounding board to help guide them through difficult situations in their day-to-day practice, and I help motivate them to succeed.

Mentoring

Most law firm partners do not take the time to properly mentor associate attorneys on key topics like business development, office politics or supervising staff. Additionally, for many non-partner litigators, questions often arise about the best way to depose an expert, prepare a case for trial, handle a mediation, etc. I have 25 years of litigation and law firm experience, and I give your associates practical guidance, motivation and confidence to help them thrive.

Happy associates need the right fit, and sometimes that means a different supervisor or a new practice group. To help you avoid the loss of key legal talent, I work with your associate attorneys to assess their career goals, review the available options in your law firm and help them choose the best path forward to achieve fulfilment with their legal career.

Whether one of your associates is switching jobs, going in-house or leaving law, many law firms fail to realize that departing lawyers can often times be excellent referral sources after their transition. I consult with departing associates to conduct exit interviews and explore the possibility of them sending future business to your firm.

Experience

I have over two decades of experience working in law firms, and I have worked on the plaintiffs' side as well as the defense side. Having worked in law firms ranging from 130 attorneys to a boutique setting to having my law firm for over a decade, I have a diverse background working with associates in both corporate and small firm environments. Also, I have held the roles of partner, associate, of-counsel or solo/owner during my legal career. 

Convenience

It's simple. Your associate attorneys book their consultations using our online calendar, and I help them succeed. Most sessions are done by telephone or via Zoom, but I can do in-person coaching if that is more convenient for you. Depending upon your firm's needs, I offer one-on-one coaching and group coaching.

Confidentiality

I keep all of our communications confidential unless the associate attorney I am coaching agrees to waive that confidentiality or I am required to do so by law. Also, any discussion I have with your associate attorneys about issues such as the best way to depose an expert, prepare for trial, etc. are done in a generic fashion without any party names or confidential information being disclosed.

    My services are geared towards associate attorneys, but I can also tailor my services to counsel level attorneys or other legal professionals, i.e., paralegals, legal assistants, etc. Depending upon your firm's needs, I offer individual and group coaching. 

  • Is the initial consultation free?

    Yes. My initial consultation with you to discuss my services and your goals is free. 

  • Are the consultations done remotely?

    The consultations are typically performed remotely via telelphone or Zoom; however, in-person consultations can be scheduled if you prefer.

    If you work with me, I am extremely responsive. I return calls and emails on the same day, and I give you my cell phone number. 

  • How long are the consultations?

    Phone and Zoom consultations are scheduled in 1/2 hour or one hour increments. 

  • Are the consultations confidential?

    I keep all of my communications with your employees confidential unless the person I am working with agrees to waive that confidentiality or I am required by law to divulge that information.
